Depression & Anxiety
We will work together to find the right strategies to decrease the pain and worry in your life. I will take the time to listen carefully to your concerns and together we will select the best type of counseling for you. We will find the best solution by combining my experience and expertise with your knowledge of your own needs.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered (GLBT) persons benefit greatly from a supportive and non-judgemental place to explore their identities and needs without fear or embarrassment. I am active in the GLBT community and always maintain an inclusive and understanding point of view.
Family and friends are often confused about how to best help a someone struggling with these issues. Joint sessions or consultations can reduce anxiety and help others understand the complex factors involved with gender identity and sexual orientation.
Alcohol and Drug Use Concerns
As a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), I have training and experience that will help you and your family understand how best to deal with alcohol and drug use. The cornerstone of my approach is maintaining a respectful attitude while giving as much information and feedback as possible. Since I firmly believe that everyone is unique, a thorough assessment is the first place to start. The level of use that is acceptable for one person may cause great harm to another. I can help individuals determine if their use is harmful to their well-being, and consider the options for changing or stopping any abuse.
Psychotic and Mood Disorders
Psychotic and mood problems are brain disorders that touch every aspect of the affected person’s life. Diseases such as schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder are best treated with a combination of medication and counseling. Family members of the affected individual often wonder how best to help. Counseling can assist the family in using it’s resources for the best outcomes and maintain harmony during stressful situations.
